We moved swiftly on from the AGM to wine, nibbles and an informal print exhibition of members’ favourite images from this year. It was great that so many people took part and there were lively discussions and constructive advice shared around the hall. We gathered together for the last part of the evening to watch a slideshow of photographs people have found inspirational and an influence on their own work. This uncovered a wide range of photographic interests from pinhole cameras, to the work of Ansel Adams, Erwin Elliott, Michael Kenna and many more. It was a fascinating and informative session, leaving us knowing more about each other and about some interesting ‘greats’! Thank you to all those people who shared their aspirations and inspirations - it was a good evening.
The AGM was efficiently chaired by Natalie Robinson in a timely manner and thanks given to all the committee members who have steered the society through this year. It was noted that we have changed the membership year to run from April to March, that our constitution has been tweaked by our friendly in-house lawyer and that a change of name has been mooted. There will be further discussion of this last point - not everyone wants to abandon the historic connection to Cripplegate, to become the ‘City of London PS' - and views of the members will be extensively canvassed before a decision is taken. Caroline Preece and Sue Judd were welcomed as new members of the committee, taking responsibility for organising Competitions, following the resignation of Julia Mclean. Many thanks to Julia for her stalwart efforts to improve our participation and success in external competitions!
