"Keep it simple, just add an element to ‘lift’ the picture.” Thanks Steve!
Roger Ford FRPS was our guest speaker and he gave us plenty to look at and think about. His presentation was titled ‘Movement and Moment’ and his fluid, abstract images of ice dancers and gymnasts were impressively beautiful.Roger’s friendly, self-deprecating manner belied his obvious passion and application to all aspects of making images throughout his life. He talked of the influence of the light and sights from his time living abroad on several different continents and the pleasure he and his wife, Angela, have found in pursuing photographic opportunities together. He made the move to digital reluctantly but has now embraced all that can offer. He enjoys seeing his images achieve success in competitions even when some may be judged harshly for being unconventional in terms of sharpness and composition. He worked his way quickly through the RPS distinctions to FRPS and is involved now as a member of the LRPS panel. He is enthusiastic about how having an exhibition in Greenwich and composing his panels helped him develop a more critical eye for his own work. At the end of the evening, Roger agreed to come back to visit, this time as a judge and we look forward to that!
