The club hold four print and slide competitions per year. Members may enter up to three mounted unframed prints and/or three mounted 35mm slides*, which are submitted to the scrutiny of a guest judge who will talk at length about each picture before giving the picture a mark out of ten.
The cumulative scores are kept throughout the year and an annual winner is declared and presented with a cup to hold until the next nail biting finale.
Even if you do not wish to enter a competition these evenings are very useful for learning what a judge may be looking for in a photograph.
*We have recently acquired a digital projector and plan to phase out the 35mm slide film category by the end of the current 2010/2011 competition season.
